A hallmark of Camp Quinebarge is the ability for camper's to select their own schedule of activities. With four morning activity hours and a longer 1.5 hour activity in the afternoon after an all camp general swim, kids are able to choose among nature, arts and crafts, sports, tennis, archery, ceramics, wood shop, boating, horseback riding, zip line an dlow and high ropes course, a ninja curse, and so much more. Only swim lessons are required, the rest allows kids to choose their own camp experience.

Programs outside of the activity hours —such as trips and special activities or themed all-camp events—are also scheduled. Prepared contingency plans help manage weather-related disruptions that reassign activities to covered areas or indoor zones. Multipurpose buildings serve as designated alternates when rain or heat advisories take effect.

Our waterfront includes defined areas for swim lessons, tubing, inflatables, and boating.

To maintain flow between activities, camps embed transition periods after each activity. These short windows allow time for equipment drop-off, hydration, hygiene, bathroom breaks and changing time for swim, boating or horseback riding.

Afternoon schedules also include a Rest Hour after lunch. This rest hour takes place in the cabin after lunch, overseen by assigned counselors in an informal setting. Campers stay in or around their cabins and take time to rest, write letters, read, talk, play cards or other calm games and generally refresh for the afternoon.

We do consider age-based scheduling differences to ensure each camper is engaging at levels that are within their abilities. Younger campers have different lesson plans than older campers, and may be excused from some evening activities a bit earlier.

Staff are assigned activities by skillset and cabin assignments by preference and capabilities. Some floaters help out where necessary, particularly on staff hours off.

Camps enable reliable participation, smooth transitions, and camper independence by anchoring each day in a consistent structure that accommodates variation. This approach ensures activity access while giving campers the confidence to navigate routines and manage their time within an organized framework. Camps of all sizes can replicate the format by adapting transitions and layered systems to their staffing and scheduling needs.
